| Your Son, A Hero Written by Raymond Lee Peltier ©2005 |
| Mother, please don’t cry, Your Country sent your son to die. On a battlefield his blood was shed, Your Son, a hero, now lies dead. He gave his life for you and me. He fought for Freedom and Liberty. As I sat there at his side, He whispered these words before he died. “I’ll find peace in Heaven, this I know, Please tell my mother, I had to go. Tell her that I felt no pain, And that I did not die in vain.” “That I was proud with my last breath, To die an honorable soldiers death. Mother please, do not cry for me, I gave my life for my country, I’ll stand with those that went before, With all my comrades that died in war.” “I’m sorry mom, I will miss you too, Please remember always, how I loved you.” On a battlefield his blood was shed, Your Son, a hero, now lies dead. He gave his life for you and me, He fought for freedom and liberty. |
