We lie together in the darkness
You are asleep next to me;
I lie beside you smiling
Because you have made me so happy.

I softly kiss your lovely lips
And gently brush back your hair;
In your ear I whisper “I love you”
Even though I know you don’t hear.

I wrap my arms around you
And I try not to disturb your sleep;
I draw you closer to me
And feel the warmth of our love so deep.

And even though we lie in darkness
I see you bathed in beautiful light;
The soft light of a single candle
In my heart burning so bright.
