Away down the road we love to go
Down through the valley driving through the snow;
All of our cares were left back home
Way down the road, we’re finally alone.

Alone at last, alone at last
This time has shown;
We’ve come this far not in despair
Way down the road, we’re finally alone.

We had some problems and we left them behind
Nothing back there is on our minds;
Here we are to share our love
Free and happy like turtle doves.
With nothing else to pick a bone
Way down the road, we’re finally alone.

Now all is quiet and love awaits
My love and I don’t hesitate;
We’ve dreamed of this day for all so long
Way down the road, we’re finally alone.
