A Father's Pride

Some people measure their success
By money in the bank.
But I just look at my son
And I know who to thank.

God gave me unspoken wealth
When Ray was born to me.
If I never make another dime
I’m rich as I can be.

I swell with pride by being with him
And all that he’s become.
His love, his strength, his faith within,
Traits not achieved by some.

He’ll never know the joy I feel
When I hear someone say,
You surely must be very proud
Of your son Ray today.

The pride you felt when you were young
Doing things that brought you praise;
Is amplified a thousand times
When done by a son you’ve raised.
